TRANSPORTATION:
There are 4 ways your child will leave the school to go home. The 4 ways is as follows: Bus, Daycare, Car Rider, Walker
Your child will be given a book bag tag indicating how your child will be getting home. These tags cannot be removed off your child's book bag. If your child is leaving school using another form of transportation other than the way you provided, then you must send in a written note explaining the way your child will be leaving the school. No other methods will be excepted. Examples: Text messages, e-mails, or phone calls.
ABSENCES:
When your child is absent, parents or legal guardians must write a written excuse note to the school explaining why your child was absent. Please be specific to the reason why your child was out of school. Excused absences are as follows:
State Attendance Rule 160-5-1-.10 states that students will be excused from school under the following circumstances, as a minimum.
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT:
Your child's behavior at school is a critical part of student success. If you have been notified of behavior concerns, please talk to your child about making better choices. Each time a teacher stops teaching to redirect negative behavior for one child, learning stops for every child in the classroom. It takes all of us to make learning a success in the classroom, we are a team. Together we can reach the stars :-) Thank you for being SUPER parents!
Summary of encouragement / reinforcement plan:
In my room, every student begins on the first color. Their goal is to move up throughout the day. This is a way to give attention to positive behavior and good examples. They will recieve a star at the end of the day when they move their clips up. Their goal is to fill up their star card and when their star card is full, they can visit the treasure box. If a student chooses to behave in a negative way, they are given a warning. If the behavior continues, there will be a check in their star cards that go home on Friday. If they stay under 5 checks for the entire week, they will have an S for satisfactory in their conduct. If they have 6 to 10 checks, they will have an N for needs improvement. Star Cards are sent home on Fridays for parents to sign and return. A check/note in student's star card or agenda and an e-mail or phone call can be made to child's parents depending on the behavior.
Consequences for choosing not to comply:
A student can be sent out of the classroom to another teacher's class for disrupting the learning environment. At recess time, if a student has made poor choices, the student can owe laps, time on the fence, or lose recess based on the severity of the behavior. If a student’s clip has not moved at the end of the day, we will discuss what they can do differently tomorrow. If the student’s behavior is severe, a phone call is made home or a e-mail will be sent.
Methods used to contact parents regarding behavior problems:
Notes home in agenda. Phone calls. Star Card. E-mail.
ASSESSMENTS:
-Get a good night's rest
-Eat a good breakfast
-Show up to school on time
-Remind your kiddo that tests are important
-Remind your kiddo to listen to directions
-Remind your kiddo to take their time, not to rush through questions, and answer all questions
-Remind your child to relax, and tell them to do the best they can
BIRTHDAYS:
If your child is having a birthday party, invitations can be passed out at school only if the entire class is invited to the party (all girls or all boys). Children have sensitive feelings. Simple birthday treats are allowed if they can be easily handed out by the student at lunch. These treats have to be given out during lunch in accordance to school policy.
SNACK:
I do allow children to have a snack in the classroom around 10:00 am before lunch. If you would like for your child to have a snack, please send a nutritious snack in with your child that can stay in his or her backpack until 10am. In compliance with school policy, we can't have non-nutritional snacks. (Some examples of healthy snacks include any fruit and vegetables, goldfish, crackers, nutri-grain bars, etc.)
LUNCH:
If you would like to each lunch with your child, please sign in and meet us in front of the cafeteria. Lunch is $2.25 per day for students and $3.00 for adults. Fast food lunches brought in are not allowed in the classroom or cafeteria. Class parties are an exception.
